About The Label
Keycan Records is an independent record label that was officially launched on the 7th of January 2008 with the idea of giving its owner, Cheryl Keyes, a place to create music on her own terms and with artistic freedom. Hence, its name derives in part from "Key" and the verb "can" which means, "Keyes can do it." Keycan Records is also the home of Cangom, an ASCAP-affiliate publishing company, founded by Keyes in 2002. So whether you are a music supervisor looking for the right song, a music producer looking for a fresh sound to mix, an artist in search of the perfect hit song, or just a connoisseur of original music, Keycan is for you.
Keyes has been composing, arranging, and performing music since her teen years, and she brings a wealth of experience to the label and Keycan’s music production services. She is heavily involved in the local jazz scene and has served as a musical and artistic director for several concerts in the Los Angeles area. Her first album, “Let Me Take You There,” was released in 2008 and won an NAACP award for Outstanding World Music Album.
